According to Fortune Magzine writer Philip Elmer DeWitt Apple has sold (pre-orders) 90,000 iPads in the first 6 Hours. The majority of sales were for Wi-Fi Only 16Gb version, by the first 4hrs that same number had gone up to 120,000.
Original estimates showed around 50,000 sales in the fist two hours, and then 75,000 in the first 4.5 hours.
The numbers are unofficial, but if these number are any closer to these Apple will release a Press note boosting the Pre-Orders.

If this is true, that is pretty crazy! I wonder how many are going to be backordered. I didn’t get one yet, I am not sure which one to get. I really want the 3G one and I’m not sure if the wifi one will be able to work with pdanet or any tethered iphone tweak.
